Labor-Saving Deflection Measurement Method for Short-Span Bridges
How much does a bridge bend when a car
passes over it? Knowing this value makes it easier to evaluate the load-bearing
capacity of a bridge. Deflection can be measured by simply installing a single
sensor on the bridge, without the need to set up a tripod on the road or under
the bridge. This method is used to evaluate the performance of aging bridges
and to determine whether a bridge is safe to use immediately after an earthquake.
